Gift Idea
Anyone know of a good gift idea for Derek's assistant at work? We really don't know much about her interests. She is about 25, is not married and doesn't have any kids. We need something not too personal but at least semi-classy since he works at a law firm. I'd take any suggestions at this point. I would prefer NOT a gift card.
Well, let's just say that #1 she is probably going to get gifts for our kids. #2 Probably some of the attorneys in the office will get their assistant gifts in the $100 range (to put that in perspective, that would be the partners who have been working there a LONG time and who have more than triple Derek's salary). I am hoping to get something in the $20-$25 range. Something sort of like these coasters.
I know they are coasters. Is that SO dorky? Feedback please.

How much do you want to spend? The secretary at the school just got a gorgeous huge poinsettia plant - maybe from Cosco that EVERYONE RAVED ABOUT. She can take it home and put it by her front door. It's very impressive. mom
Are movie tickets not classy enough? I know it is sort of like a gift card but...
Hi Jenny...check me out, reading your blog and responding!! Don't hold your breath that this would happen too much.
For a gift, maybe you can help her start a holiday collectible. Such as fun snowman statues, jingle bells, ornaments. It might be easier since the stores are bursting with the stuff. Hope you figure out something appropriate. Abby
Jenny - the coasters are painful to cut to the chase. A VERY NICE basket filled with organic fruit and nuts would be a WAY better gift than the coasters.
The glass company with Dad ALWAYS give us a huge basket (that I love) filled with Christmas things that are truly collectables also they make homemade breads and treats. I always look forward to it and I am never disappointed. (ornament, candy, bread, fruit, santa mail box etc etc)
This may be a little corny too, but we have a local baker who makes "cookie baskets" and they put sticks in the cookies like a sucker and have them sticking out of a nice basket with all that...garnish stuff. Anyways, I know they are a hit around here and I bet there would be a baker near you who did something similiar. And around here we get a small, 6 cookie basket for about $10.
