I managed to avoid cutting a huge lock of her hair. I just poured oil all over her hair and slowly combed it out. It took a while and definitely pulled out plenty of her hair, but at least it's not a blunt cut like it would've been. We survived that one.

Oh good. I felt your pain. I can't imagine having had to cut that all out. Good thinking. :]
wow. i bet that was messing. my mom always used peanut butter...the real kind. not like skippy. i would have been sad to see that cute hair with a chunk missing.
I'm also glad you got the gum out. I'm sorry about your spider problem. We found two big brown spiders in our garage, and that was when we decided to start using a bug man.
I'm so glad this worked! Now does she have oily hair though? Or does shampoo get that out pretty well. I remember my mom telling me about Jennifer and Julie-our cousins-using dish soap if their hair was really oily. I don't know why I remember that after all these years....
I was hoping you would post how you got it out. Everyone needs to get gum in their hair once. I remember when the dreaded thing happened to me. Now you can check it off the list, and hopefully it will never happen again!
thanks! I'll try it when I need to, at least I know now. And I'm glad you didn't have to lop her hair off. :)
