FINALLY, a new blog entry!
I'm back to cloth diapering (I don't need any comments from all of you who think I'm weird) and am really happy with my diaper choice. After tons of research I decided on a brand called bumGenius. It's a one-size diaper that fits babies from 8-35 pounds. SO, I can use them on Katie AND Ryan (at night since he's potty training and usually wears underwear during the day). Anyway, they are REALLY easy to wash and don't stain and have great stretchy tabs on the side that make them fit the waist really well.
We got 5 of the diaper-wearing cousins together and you can see, they really DO fit all the different sizes. You gotta love diapered bottoms!

I might also add that I gave Judy a popsicle earlier in the day - in case you noticed her orange cheeks. :)
no comments on the weirdness of cloth diapers from me...
but I did briefly wonder how a 10 month-old Matt got in the second picture, far left. DANG, Jodie, that boy looks like mine!
Cute bums all around,
J
Cute pictures! I love the assortment of colors.
I bet you would recycle aluminum cans too- that is- if you drank soda pop. ;)
Very nice! I loved the variety of colors! Too cute, but I must say, I missed seeing Emma and Baby Girl To Be in the pictures! It just isn't the same without Jamie!
I love seeing all of them together. And yes, cute bums!
Somehow I think cloth diapers are only for those who have their own washing machines. Am I wrong? Do you think it is reasonable to use cloth diapers if you usually only do laundry once a week in the apartment laundromat?
My questions:
How many did you buy for your 2 kids?
How often do you do laundry?
How do you store the dirty inserts in between launderings?
I would ABSOLUTELY not recommend cloth diapering to anyone who has to use a coin operated washing machine. You have to do an initial rinse, hot wash, AND extra rinse afterwards. That would take WAY TOO many quarters.
I bought a total of 12 (plus I have 6 of a different kind to use for Katie while I'm washing the others). If Ryan were full time in diapers I think I would want about twice as many.
I wash diapers twice a week (or sometimes 3 times a week if Ryan chooses to wear diapers during any particular day).
When a diaper is soiled I just remove the insert and put both the cover and insert in a diaper pail next to the washing machine. My washing machine is out in my garage so I don't have a terrible smell to deal with in my house. My pail doesn't have a lid, but it doesn't make my garage smell since there is some air flow.
Hmmm.... thanks for the additional info. I suspected it might be a bit inconvenient with coin-operated laundry. Maybe one day we'll have our own washer and dryer. Maybe some day we'll have a house!
For some reason those pics reminded me of Easter eggs... too cute.
Can I just tell on these pictures? Cute and FUN are the words of the day here. Judy was looking up and cooperating so well because Gina is doing her high flying jumping jacks and screaming and laughing to get the kids attention. Sorry Gina. I just felt compelled to tell. Somehow it only caught the main attention of little Judy (and us adults!) I should have taken a picture of Gina when she was doing the high fly cheerleading yells! Too funny! Hahahah - it was a fun morning especially for me - the Grandma!
Thanks for tattling on me Mom!
