Bird Owners for 3.5 Seconds
We went outside to play with Ryan's friend William this morning and I noticed a beautiful little white and blue parakeet fly out of a tree. He landed on the ground near our back patio and I slowly walked over to see how close I could get to him. This type of bird is obviously someones pet so when I realized that he'd let me get close enough to touch him I attempted to pick him up. We discovered that his wings weren't clipped and he could fly, though he was flying very close to the ground and not far at all.
That pretty little thing sure bites the pizzazies out of a person. We took him in the garage and put him in a box for safe keeping. I had bird seed and put some in there with him. We all went out and played in the park for about an hour and when Ryan was done riding bikes we went back to the garage to try and put the little guy in a better habitat. I found a clear tote and lined it with newspaper and then put a dish with water and birdseed. The shelf on my window box was basically like a screen so I realized it would be perfect to keep plenty of air circulating and we'd be able to see him without him flying away. Well, in the transfer he flew right out of the box and out the garage. If I had been smart I would've closed the garage door as I was transferring him, but I needed the light. Anyway, he's long gone and I didn't even get a picture of him. Oh well, at least we TRIED to keep him safe for his rightful owner. So ends the short, yet exciting, bird owning adventure.

Hey, you tried your best and that's all one can ask, right? Has Ryan been wanting a pet? Like a bird or a fish, or dare I say a dog? Has he showed any pet interest at all? I can see him having fun with a bird.
Yeah, I was wondering how sad Ryan was to have the bird gone. Was he excited to have it, or was he just kind of like "whatever" ?
When I caught the bird and it was biting the heck out of me I couldn't help but yelp out in pain. Ryan knew the thing was a biter so he wasn't even semi-interested in holding him.
When he flew away Ryan said, "Now he can't eat his food." and was disappointed about that, but not too concerned about losing a pet.
He has never asked me to own any pet. I don't talk about the possibility and I don't think he's really an animal-lover. Not at this point in his life. He could talk me into a fish, turtle, or rabbit. I'm not interested in much else. (Well, I DO like the chicken idea when I have a place to let them roam)
Chickens? There are LOTS of wild chickens roaming the streets here and I can't tell you how many hours of sleep we have lost to their crowing and clucking. True, you kind of get used to it after a while, but I can't imagine how much space you would need to have for chickens to be worth it.
Cute story and I absolutely LOVE your new blog heading (what's it called?!) and colors. SO pretty.
THANK you! I have been experimenting TONS with Photoshop. It took me FOREVER to come up with this one, so I'm glad you like it. :)
Do you own Photoshop?
