Vaccine Reaction
Millie had an 18 month checkup on Friday. She's 21 pounds (8%), 29 inches (27%)
She got two shots - Hib and Pneumoccocal. One of them (most likely Hib) gave her this reaction:

It's really ugly (as you can see) and super swollen. The weirdest part is how hard it feels when you touch it - like there is tons of pressure inside and it is also hot to the touch. I'm just glad this is her last dose of both of those vaccines. I'm really bugged by how her body reacted to it. This is listed as one of the "mild" side effects.

There is nothing mild about that. Addison had a small reaction to one of her shots when she was little. I remember that cold seemed to help. I would definitely call your Dr. Poor girl. Hope she heals quick from this. That is too bad. Good luck.
Ohhhh, this makes me so sad to see! Really? This is mild?? So did you take her back to the doctor to have it evaluated, or just call on the telephone?
That is sooooo not cool. After all the RSV junk this is the last thing you need!

Mary had a similar reaction to one of her 18 month vaccines too, but hers wasn't nearly that big. Scary!
yikes. poor baby. did you have to take her back to the doctor to get it checked out? yikes. hope it's MUCH better today.
I suppose it is mild compared to paralysis. But still ugly. Hope it goes away soon!
Exactly, Gina. And I will say that I'd take this weird reaction over Meningitis (which is what the vaccine was meant to prevent.)

And she's the 8th percentile at 21 pounds?? Peter is 26lbs and is in the 50th.
Oh. Poor baby. I'm sorry that happened. It seems everyone I know who has bad reactions has it happen at 18 months. Wonder why that is.
We've moved to a selective/delayed schedule in our family. I just didn't feel comfortable with the doctor's schedule.

Holy cow! Liam just had his nine month checkup and he is almost the exact same size as Millie. He is 21 lbs. 2 oz. (53%) and 29.8 inches (90%). That is crazy!
Angry. I felt so angry when I saw that. Good grief. I feel so sorry for her. Shaking my head. What the heck did the doctor say? Is it gone now? I'm done looking at it. bye bye.
As an update - it was actually Prevnar (Pneumoccocal) that gave her the reaction.
