"Wicked: the Untold Story of the Witches of Oz"

On Thursday Derek and I went on a date to the Pantages Theater to see "Wicked." I don't think I could explain how much fun it was. I'm really a sucker for some good singing and that's exactly what we got. The main character (Elphaba) was played by the understudy but we weren't disappointed. She did a fabulous job.

It was fun to see some TV actors as part of the cast. Nessarose was played by Jenna Leigh Green who was Libby Chessler on "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" (think snobby school girl.) Boq seemed familiar to us and after going home and looking up Adam Wylie we realized that he was Larry on "Kindergarten Cop." Maybe you'll recognize him too. (Apparently he is also on "Gilmore Girls," a show that I personally can't stand.)

Anyway, the inside of Pantages is SO ornate and you would never guess by looking on the outside. It is so beautiful. Unfortunately, no pictures allowed. There was this one on the internet though to give you a small idea of how nice it was.

We were in the very last row right in front of the aisle so we got plenty of leg room and it truly seems that there was no bad seat in the house.

I'll tell you what, "Wicked" is just a great musical. It has a very fun story, fabulous songs (especially the first half), and has few parts where it seems to be slow. It also doesn't have any rude or risque parts (which are pretty common in theater.) We checked out the storyline on Wikipedia before we went so we knew what we would be seeing, but I hear that it is SO much fun for people who don't know what to expect. Either way, it is worth seeing. I was SO glad we went and couldn't wipe the grin off my face during the whole show.

Oh, and I will be posting about RYan's birthday later on. I'm tired! :)

I am very jealous! Hopefully I'll be able to see it sometime in my life. :)

p.s. I recommend to everyone NOT to read the book. Don't even check it out of the library. Really horrible, and very different from the musical.

Glad you had so much fun! I can't wait to see it!

Oh how I LOVE a super good musical! The pictures are beautiful! I am also really happy that you and Derek find time to "get out!" Way to go!

I read the book a long time ago (I would have listened to your advice, Jodie). It was terrible.

So when they made a musical, I wasn't all that interested. But so many people really love it...maybe I should reconsider.

And Jen, the green font is ridiculously perfect. I love it!

Yes, definitely reconsider (or at least read the storyline on Wickipedia to see how it is different from the book). :)

I second (third?) Jodie and Jana about the book. I was surprised such a good musical could come from such a thing. I highly recommend seeing the musical if you ever have the chance. We thought it was worth every penny we paid.

Glad you had a good time! I didn't know you didn't like Gilmore Girls?! I guess we can still be friends.
